Often we can find ourselves in a place of rejection and disappointment. We may get to a place where we feel we are worthless, and our desire to be noticed becomes so strong that the enemy begins to put the lies in our heart that God doesn’t love us, and we are nobody special.
I think we have believed many lies about what it means to be worthy. We have serious issues with defining our self-worth by how much attention we receive or by the praises we receive from man.
May I be so bold to say that maybe our negative self-worth or our feelings of rejection might be based in our very own pride?
On the outside it may look like we think we are worthless, but the truth is on the inside we just feel like we are not receiving what we feel we deserve.
I think deep down inside everyone knows they are special, and they just want to feel special. I remember getting ready for an event and asking God to just tell me I’m beautiful, I was feeling very insecure in how I looked and felt. But God whispered to my heart that He was not going to tell me that I was beautiful because it wouldn’t be enough. Instead He said, “Today, you will be praised.” (Proverbs 31:30)
We often think we just want to be beautiful, or noticed, or accepted and we seek these things from PEOPLE, not God. We want these things because we FEEL they will validate something we already know in our heart, or because we need for God to prove to us how He really feels about us.
We can’t just believe that God loves us. We look to success, money, or influence as proof that He loves us instead of the fact that He has offered total and complete forgiveness of our sins through the blood of His ONE AND ONLY SON, JESUS!
The truth is we do not need to prove our love to God and He has already proven His love to us. Our worth is based on NOT ONE THING on this earth, or by anyone other than God Himself.
We don’t need these things. What we truly need is to put our faith and confidence back into the promises that God has already given us through His word, and through His sacrifice. Validation can only come through Jesus, people are fickle, but God is not. People will disappoint you, BUT GOD will continue to be a stable and steady flow of validation on WHO you are and HOW MUCH you are loved.
You want more stability in your life? Then stop looking for other people to validate you, and look to the ONE and ONLY God who loves and treasures you. That’s all you need to know, in that you will be able to share that love with whomever will receive it. That’s all that matters…receive His grace and love so that you can share it with others.
