What if we were something different? What if our reactions weren’t the same as everyone else’s, or what everyone else was expecting.
What if someone is expecting you to be jealous, but you REJOICE instead?
What if someone expects you to respond in anger, but you respond with LOVE instead?
What if someone expects you to be envious, but you respond with CELEBRATION instead?
What if someone expects you to be impatient, but you respond with LONG SUFFERING instead?
What if we were something different in this very lonely, often cruel world. In this world where the trials and the tests can be relentless, one right after another.
What if we could be that LIGHT in a very dark place.
What if we chose to stay in the uncomfortable situation.
What if we refused to move or runaway in spite of our offenses.
What if we STAYED?
Instead of letting our light go out, what if we just STAYED and shined BRIGHTER?
Sometimes being different in any given situation is listening instead of talking. Loving instead of hating. Praying instead of gossiping.
Everyday we are faced with opportunities that could make a big impact in the lives of those around us. When we can stand back, and we don’t react the way they are expecting us to react, it will make them think. These reactions will stick with them beyond that fleeting moment in time.
When we can get through the difficult times of life without crumbling then they will SEE the light of Jesus.
SO many of the things that are meant to consume us are also great opportunities designed to make us shine BRIGHTER, and draw people closer to the Lord, as if we are a beacon on a hill…
In order to shine brighter we need to rise above our problems. We will need to learn how to walk over the offenses, sin, and the traps set before us by the enemy. That moment we have given up HOPE is the very moment we have taken our eyes off Jesus.
Being something different, and unexpected, will stick with people more than simply fitting in and embracing our selfish hearts. Today I would like to encourage you to be something different in every situation and to endure those difficult moments, because in those moments we gain wisdom…wisdom to be all that God created us to be, and strength to follow through.
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. James 3:17
