As I was designing the cover of my upcoming book I was advised that the original image I used for the cover portrayed something that I had no intention, or desire, to portray. So I decided to change the cover of the book. A good friend of mine came up with the idea of using a butterfly instead of a flower, which I automatically thought was perfect considering the book is about transformation and based off of Romans 12:2. Plus she had not read the book yet!
So I went searching for an image that had a butterfly on it. I came across the butterfly on this cover and it caught my eye immediately. But the more I looked at it I thought about how the butterfly was average looking, and I’m not even sure it is a butterfly. So I continued searching. But my heart kept getting drawn back to this image. I liked how colorful it was and I felt it radiated beauty even though I felt the butterfly was a bit average.
Isn’t that how we are? We look at something and criticize it and say it’s not beautiful, it’s just average. But sometimes we are drawn to something or someone because they radiate beauty in a different way. There is just something different and unique about them. The more I thought about it the more I KNEW this was the image for the cover of this book.
Be you. is a book based on my journey of breaking free from some of the lies that have been presented to me over the years of my life. I pray it is a book that will lead those who read it to radiate beauty, the beauty that comes through the glory of God and the freedom they find in Christ alone.
Radiance. It’s a word that is repeating over and over in my head. What is radiance? What does the Bible say about radiance? Here are a few scriptures I found on the topic of radiance:
His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself made purification for our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high – Hebrews 1:3
It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.
– Revelation 21:11
they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the LORD.
– Exodus 34:35
I think as women we struggle with what true beauty is. We are told and shown images of what “beauty” is in this world. I love that radiance, brilliance, is truly a reflection of God’s glory in OUR life. I do pray that Be you. will help women to step into the God’s purpose and plan for their life so that they will radiate HIS glory through Christ.

Our faith begins with what we know and believe about God. Our faith will carry us how far we are willing to let it take us. Faith is a choice and we need to begin by choosing to believe in Jesus and His power to move mountains, heal the sick, and save us from all our sins through His sacrifice on the cross.
