There are moments in our lives that will make us seriously question whether or not we missed the mark with something. Isn't it funny how we find security in certain things that are more about culture than they are about our character? We find safety in always having the same routine, the same rituals, the same way of putting on our socks in the morning and that's if we sleep with our socks off - which some people feel don't feel safe to even sleep with their socks off at night. So ... View the Post
What do you believe?
Every day we need to ask ourselves what it is we believe. What we believe about God, our husband, our children, our life's ministry, everything. What we believe will determine whether we respond to this world in FEAR or FAITH. It will also determine what we do with our time, and who or what we invest in. Everyone believes in someone or something. All the events in this world that either inspire us and encourage us, or that makes our heart heavy and draws us into moments of hopelessness or despair, are all based of off something that someone has chosen to believe whether it be about themselves, God, or this world. In Hebrews 11:6 it says that it is impossible to please God without faith, and that we need to BELIEVE in Him. Jesus has called us to BELIEVE, and that is my word for 2016. I hope you will enjoy the devotionals below that I write on this topic throughout the year.
I don't want to turn into a pillar of salt like Lots' wife. I guess sometimes I feel like I am, though. When life just doesn't seem to be going according to plan, or when I flee from sin but maybe I look back thinking even that may have been a mistake, that's when I know I am being a pillar of salt. One commentary I read said that Lots' wife turns into a pillar of salt because she turned back and secretly in her heart she longed for what she left behind. It had become her ... View the Post
Having faith in someone is difficult when they have betrayed your trust before. But sometimes faith is difficult even when someone hasn't betrayed your trust. Take Adam and Eve, all they had to do in the garden was to believe and have faith in God that what He said was true. If they had done that then they would have just trusted God when He said not to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. You see they didn't have enough faith to fight off the deception that came ... View the Post
In November I set out to write a novel. Needless to say I did not stick to my goal and I didn’t finish the novel. I know that if I am ever going to finish the novel I will need to really sit down and do some focused writing, and I still plan on writing the novel. In fact I am always writing notes and I have a nice little system to keep track of my notes so they aren’t just flying around the house somewhere. But with all that goes on in the daily life I have to truly count ... View the Post
Every year I establish a vision with just one word, or phrase. It is the theme that God puts on my heart and it encourages me and directs my steps. In 2016 my word for the year is BELIEVE! My husband asked me how that's different from faith and it took me a moment to realize the difference between faith & believing. With all that is going on in the world today my faith has been shaken, but only when I doubt what I believe. Sometimes it's not even doubt and ... View the Post
