When I was little my bedroom used to be on the second floor. My biggest fear was that the house would catch on fire, and every night before bed I would run through my mind how I would get out of the house if it were to catch on fire while I was sleeping. I think the irony in this is that I grew up and married a FireFighter, HA! Today I was once again thinking about fear. In Luke 9:23 Jesus says we need to take up our cross daily if we want to be His disciples. Just before Jesus said this ... View the Post
What do you believe?
Every day we need to ask ourselves what it is we believe. What we believe about God, our husband, our children, our life's ministry, everything. What we believe will determine whether we respond to this world in FEAR or FAITH. It will also determine what we do with our time, and who or what we invest in. Everyone believes in someone or something. All the events in this world that either inspire us and encourage us, or that makes our heart heavy and draws us into moments of hopelessness or despair, are all based of off something that someone has chosen to believe whether it be about themselves, God, or this world. In Hebrews 11:6 it says that it is impossible to please God without faith, and that we need to BELIEVE in Him. Jesus has called us to BELIEVE, and that is my word for 2016. I hope you will enjoy the devotionals below that I write on this topic throughout the year.
When I was in the fourth grade I started an inch worm rescue mission. It started one day during recess. We were outside and I had discovered this group of inch worms that I just thought were the cutest things that ever existed, besides kittens. My friend helped me gather the inch worms into my little coin purse for safe keeping. As we were gathering them up this girl who would tease me on a daily basis came over to see what we were doing and I guess she thought the inch worms were ... View the Post
The other day a my husband woke up to find that the garage door had been opened all night long. We have a home that has an attached garage, so if the door from the garage to the house wasn’t locked then someone could have easily taken the opportunity to come through the opened garage door straight into the house. I can’t even tell you the feeling of vulnerability I had the moment I found out the garage door had been open all night. At night….I don’t even like keeping my garage door ... View the Post
When I became pregnant with my oldest daughter at 16 years old I had a lot of difficult decisions to make. I guess the first decision I had to make was whether or not I was going to raise my child. The option of abortion was there, but I knew in my heart that wasn’t an option for me. When I was in sixth grade I did a group project with my friends for school and the topic was abortion. From that point on I knew it was not something I would ever be OK with doing, and I know that all ... View the Post
Sometimes the pressure of life can be overwhelming. Recently I found myself just trying to fix a problem so that I can FINALLY feel a little bit of peace and just get out from under this pressure that I've been feeling in every area of my life. I've also been struggling with the temptation to build walls, and live my life in a bubble just so that I wouldn't feel this pressure on a daily basis. In life there is always something. It might feel like we overcome on obstacle only to be ... View the Post
We all know that judging people is not a wise thing to do. We all know that Jesus came and died on the cross not to judge the world, but to save the world. (John 3:17) The real problem is we continue to judge ourselves. Most of the time if someone is judging someone else, they are typically saying the same things to themselves in the dark corners of their own mind, in front of the mirror, when nobody else can see or hear. It took me a long time to get to the point where I didn't hate ... View the Post
