When I became pregnant with my oldest daughter at 16 years old I had a lot of difficult decisions to make. I guess the first decision I had to make was whether or not I was going to raise my child. The option of abortion was there, but I knew in my heart that wasn’t an option for me. When I was in sixth grade I did a group project with my friends for school and the topic was abortion. From that point on I knew it was not something I would ever be OK with doing, and I know that all ... View the Post
What do you believe?
Every day we need to ask ourselves what it is we believe. What we believe about God, our husband, our children, our life's ministry, everything. What we believe will determine whether we respond to this world in FEAR or FAITH. It will also determine what we do with our time, and who or what we invest in. Everyone believes in someone or something. All the events in this world that either inspire us and encourage us, or that makes our heart heavy and draws us into moments of hopelessness or despair, are all based of off something that someone has chosen to believe whether it be about themselves, God, or this world. In Hebrews 11:6 it says that it is impossible to please God without faith, and that we need to BELIEVE in Him. Jesus has called us to BELIEVE, and that is my word for 2016. I hope you will enjoy the devotionals below that I write on this topic throughout the year.
Sometimes the pressure of life can be overwhelming. Recently I found myself just trying to fix a problem so that I can FINALLY feel a little bit of peace and just get out from under this pressure that I've been feeling in every area of my life. I've also been struggling with the temptation to build walls, and live my life in a bubble just so that I wouldn't feel this pressure on a daily basis. In life there is always something. It might feel like we overcome on obstacle only to be ... View the Post
We all know that judging people is not a wise thing to do. We all know that Jesus came and died on the cross not to judge the world, but to save the world. (John 3:17) The real problem is we continue to judge ourselves. Most of the time if someone is judging someone else, they are typically saying the same things to themselves in the dark corners of their own mind, in front of the mirror, when nobody else can see or hear. It took me a long time to get to the point where I didn't hate ... View the Post
Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with the mockers. But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. - Psalms 1:1-3 You see, we can’t sit around letting people who don’t know us, our struggles, or even our faith to control what we do with our ... There are moments in our lives that will make us seriously question whether or not we missed the mark with something. Isn't it funny how we find security in certain things that are more about culture than they are about our character? We find safety in always having the same routine, the same rituals, the same way of putting on our socks in the morning and that's if we sleep with our socks off - which some people feel don't feel safe to even sleep with their socks off at night. So ... View the Post
I don't want to turn into a pillar of salt like Lots' wife. I guess sometimes I feel like I am, though. When life just doesn't seem to be going according to plan, or when I flee from sin but maybe I look back thinking even that may have been a mistake, that's when I know I am being a pillar of salt. One commentary I read said that Lots' wife turns into a pillar of salt because she turned back and secretly in her heart she longed for what she left behind. It had become her ... View the Post
